Beloved Photography at Burrow Mump, Somerset | Mandip and Colin

Sometimes a portrait shoot has everything going for it: gorgeous light, an incredible setting and most importantly subjects who are just amazing to photograph. I had the pleasure of meeting Mandip and Colin at the same place where Colin had proposed: Burrow Mump in Somerset (Mandip, of course, said yes!) You only have to cast you eye over these photos to see how in tune these two are with each other, the absolute joy they have in each others' company and the love that they share simply radiates from them when they're together.

This was another perfect opportunity for me to use Beloved techniques to create genuine and authentic connections between the people that I photograph. The focus of Beloved moves away from 'poses' generally associated with traditional portrait photography to instead getting people to simply enjoy each others' company, share memories and dreams and play games with each other through a series of fun, warm and soulful interactions. In fact most people come away from these sessions with a completely new perception of what a 'photo shoot' can be. The appeal of using this method of portrait photography with the emphasis on real interactions ties in really well with the documentary approach that I apply to my wedding photography. It allows me to step back and wait for those moments that capture people's relationships and personalities in the most beautiful way.

So without further ado here are are few selections from Mandip and Colin's Beloved photography shoot. Look out in the near future for their wedding feature as well!
